this is a general list; choose what applies to you:
- Identity card/passport/residence certificate … (also your children’s papers)
- Birth certificates
- Health insurance cards
- Social security number
- Driver’s license
- Vaccination documents
- Bank card, if available
- Bank statements for the last three months (for immigration authorities or job center)
- Current or most recent letters from the authorities (e.g. unemployment benefit, child benefit…)
- Cash, savings books, documents about existing assets or debts
- Work papers
- School certificates
- Rental agreement (if you are a co-tenant) and keys to the previous apartment
- Marriage certificate, family record book, divorce decree
- Custody order
- Medical certificates
- If applicable, previous correspondence with your lawyer
- Proof of liability insurance, if available
- Cell phone contract, if you are not using prepaid.
- Please, copy your most important contacts and leave your cell phone at home or in another location (due to risk of location).
- Necessary medication
- Children’s favorite toys and children’s school supplies
- Personal and non-material valuables such as photos
- Clothes (otherwise we can give you clothes for now)
- Hygiene and cosmetic items
